This 1948 Epiphone Triumph appears in all original condition and sports the upgraded blonde finish. It exemplifies the qualities typical of 1930s and 1940s Epiphones by being capable of loud, punchy, forward projection that was desired by those playing acoustic rhythm guitar in bands. It makes for a nice solo instrument or for other accompaniment as well.
The neck has a soft V-shaped carve, often seen on 1940s Epiphones. The frets have seen some playing time, but have quite a bit of life left in them. The guitar plays well.
There are some repaired cracks in the top, some of which were glued some time ago and another that was just cleated. The binding shows a little shrinkage, but is in very good shape overall, showing no signs of degradation. The lower bout on the back of the bass side shows a small area of separation from the side which currently feels stable. I can't say absolutely, but it may have been glued. I cannot make it move at all. The mounting bracket for the Frequensator tailpiece show a crack on the bass side that doesn't appear to be growing, but will likely need repair in the future.
