This 1951 Epiphone Triumph is a great acoustic archtop with classic, punchy Epiphone tone. It has plenty of volume for any setting when an acoustic archtop is desired. Having a cutaway means it has great access to the upper frets and with the additon of a floating pickup it would also be a great electric guitar.
The neck has a full C-shaped carve which feels very comfortable. The frets appear original and have plenty of life left in them with generally light wear. The guitar is set up for optimum acoustic tone, but the bridge has room to go down should a lower action be desired.
The tuners and bridge appear original. The original Frequensator tailpiece has been replaced with a solid regular trapeze variation. This isn't unusual since the mounting bracket on Frequensators often fails. The finish is all orignal. The body has no cracks or repairs. The top is a very fine piece of spruce that shows prominent silking. The back is maple with light bubble/blister figuring. There is a small area of binding repair on the back near the heel joint, as pictured. The finish shows checking and scratches with an area of finish worn away on the back.
