This 1954 Epiphone Zephyr Regent represents the base version of the electric cutaway line by Epiphone at the time. It features the same electronics as the higher end versions, the "New York" Tone Spectrum pickup. These pickups can vary somewhat in tone. This particular one sounds superb through a clean amp, giving a classic jazz tone.
The guitar is in very good overall condition. This era of Epiphone guitars is known to have issues with rotting binding. Fortunately this one has already had its binding replaced. It appears that it also had an overspray layer of lacquer added, likely at the time of the binding restoration. The electronics, tailpiece, bridge, endpin, and control knobs all appear original. The "bikini" logo plate is missing from the headstock. It also does not come with a pickguard.
The guitar plays very nicely with low, smooth action and all notes ringing clearly. The original frets do show considerable wear, but this does not currently affect playability, showing that the guitar has a wonderful, straight neck. The neck has a very soft V-shaped carve.
The guitar comes with a 1960s era Epiphone case that is in good condition with all hinges and latches working correctly.
