This is a super clean 1959 Gibson Super 400C, one of only 11 made in 1959.  This was Gibson's premier, top of the line acoustic archtop of the time.

The original finish shows only very light lacquer checking, a few scatter dings, and a few chips at the top of the headstock.  The original frets show little wear.  The binding shows a couple of shrinkage cracks, as shown, but it is in otherwise great condition.  The guitar has no cracks, breaks, or repairs.

Master luthier Darrell Guinn just performed a level and crown, and now it plays as good as it looks. It can be played with low action and all notes still ring out clearly.  The bass response is increased, as one would expect from a big bodied archtop like this.  The guitar was pretty tight when it came to us from being played very little for years and years.  We have been using a ToneRite on it, and it has opened up very nicely and is now sounding wonderful with a full, deep, rich voice.

A high quality, 5 latch, hardshell case is included.
