This 1964 Gibson ES-175D is in excellent cosmetic condition with a nice, glossy, all original finish. Notably, the back has birdseye figuring. The only cosmetic flaws are two small holes in the top from a prior Bigsby installation, light finish checking, and a few small chips around the headstock. There is a hole from a prior strap button in the back of the heel. A new one could easily be added there or it could be filled.
The guitar plays beautifully with lots of life left in the original frets which show very little wear. The bridge is also original, and it has plenty of room to adjust up or down as the player prefers. The neck has a comfortable 60s C-shaped carve.
The pickups are early patent sticker t-tops with new, aged nickel covers and the harness has been rewired with vintage spec VIPots, which are made to be functional copies of vintage Centralab pots. The guitar sounds amazing with the classic vintage Gibson electric archtop sound expected from a guitar like this. The tuners are new reproductions of the original double-ring, single-line Kluson Deluxe that the guitar would have orignally come with. The tailpiece is a new reprodution which even fit the original spacing of the screw holes of an original ES-175 zigzag.
