Start with an all maple construction ES-175 body and install what appears consistent with an new, old stock Charlie Christian pickup and what do you get?  That's exactly what Gibson decided to try in 1978.  This was during the time that Gibson was putting three piece maple necks onto guitars that traditionally been made with mahogany necks.  The standard ES-175 made at this time was the ES-175D, the double humbucker model.  You can see this in the interior label of this ES-175CC Prototype which still says ES-175D.  The result is this great playing, amazing sounding guitar with all of the playability of a modern cutaway archtop and a tone that very successfully mimics that of a classic 1930s Gibson electric guitar. As far as I know the only ES-175CCs made with the natural (blonde) finish are the prototypes.

The guitar is in excellent cosmetic condition with only scattered lacquer checks.  The pickguard's protective plastic is still in place on the pickguard.  There are only the very lightest signs of playwear on the original low-wide frets.  There are no divots or other issues.  All parts are original to the guitar.
