This Les Paul Custom is one of the very first silverbursts produced, dating to August 10, 1978.  Note that this was also the only production year to feature reflector knobs for the controls.  In 1979 all Les Paul Customs were switched to speed knobs.  This is one of a very small number produced in 1978, and made more than a year before Adam Jones's personal silverburst.

This one is mostly original, featuring original T-top pickups, tuners, bridge, tailpiece, switch and tip, frets and two original reflector knobs.  Two of the reflector knobs are replacements, the strap buttons have been replaced with Schaller strap locks, and the pots and capacitors have been changed out for a top quality Emerson harness (CTS made pots).  The guitar shows natural playwear, especially to the finish on the back of the neck.  Most importantly though, the guitar has never had any breaks or cracks to the body or neck.  There is a small screw hole on back from a strap button placement.

The original low, wide frets show considerable wear, but as we usually find with these frets, the guitar still plays beautifully.  These T-tops seem to have an especially quick attack, making it very responsive, especially for rock and metal.   The neck is the typical slim '60s style of the era.

Weight - 9.8 pounds

The guitar comes with the original "chainsaw" case.  All of the hinges and latches work. The retaining strap for the lid to limit its opening is gone.
