This 1986 Guild Artist Award is a very fine example of the work they were doing in Westerly, Rhode Island at the time.  The fit and finish are all top of the line, as are the woods used to make the guitar.  Check out the maple used for the back and sides. They have a simply outrageous amount of flame. The spruce used on the top is also superb with prominet silking and fine, even grain. The condition is increadible for a 40 year old guitar.  It shows very few signs of any aging at all and shows only very light playwear.
 
The guitar plays with ease, having even frets with lots of life left in them. The action can be set quite low if desired. The acoustic voice is solid with even tone, and the guitar really shines when plugged into an amp through the endpin jack.  The DeArmond Rhythm Chief really delivers the great note separation and beautiful tone that they are known for.
