This 1987 Les Paul Custom is one that I have decided to pull from my personal collection. It is a prime example of a late 1980s Gibson after the overall quality control was getting really good. This is also after they had gone back to using mahogany necks. The neck on this one has impeccable playability. The action is low and fast with no buzzing. The original frets have lots of life left in them. The neck is the typical slim 60s style most 1980s Les Pauls have.
The original Tim Shaw pickups sound amazing, as expected. I have lots of guitars with these pickups in them for a reason, and they are commanding more and more on the market for a good reason as well. All of the original electronics function as they should.
The condition is excellent for the age. The pickup covers and the other gold plated hardware show some wear. There are a couple of small dings and a very small dent on the back of the neck, but I would place this guitar in collector's grade condition, but not mint. There is remarkably little yellowing for a guitar of this age.
The original chainsaw (Generation 3 Protector) which is in excellent condition with the Gibson plaque still attached is included.
