This Les Paul Custom 1957 reissue was one of the very first ever issued by the Gibson Custom Shop after the Custom Shop was officially launched in 1993, as shown by the serial number of 0023, as well as its "Historic Collection" decal. This one was purchased by us as a used guitar from a shop in Japan. It was billed as a Yamano spec guitar by that shop, although we have no documentation of that. We have had this one for several years as part of the That Rhythm Man collection for its exceptional tone. We have decided to make it available for your purchase at this time. Every once in a while we run into a guitar that stands out so much that we have to keep it around, and this is one of those. Occasionally we decide to offer one of these for public sale, and this is one of those times.
The playability is excellent with fast, low action. All notes ring out clearly with no fret buzz. The neck has a large C-shape 1957 style carve.
This guitar has seen a lot of play time, but the frets are still in excellent condition. The majority of the wear is seen in various dings in the finish and buckle worming on the back. The neck shows some small dents and some lacquer checking that do not affect playability in our opinion, see pics.
