Archtop guitars made by John Zeidler rarely come available, and an 18-inch version is an especially uncommon find. We are thrilled to be able to offer this stunning example which was built with the same specs as the Zeidler built for the Chinery Blue Guitar Collection, including the wide nut, but with a natural finish. The guitar includes a not currently installed pickguard with a floating pickup that appears to be a Kent Armstrong 12-pole PAF humbucker and Schatten thumb wheel controls.
John Zeidler was known for his meticulous craftsmanship and it shows in this example. The construction is simply stunning. The binding work and general attention to detail is simply flawless. The unique tailpiece design of Zeidler guitars is one of my all time favorites and all of the woods used for this guitar gorgeous. Just look at that figuring of the maple back and sides! The guitar is in beautiful condition for its age. There is one deeper finish scratch in the top, upper bout, bass side. Otherwise, there are only minimal, light surface scratches.
The playability is wonderful with the neck made to especially please those who favor a neck wider than usually found on archtops, approaching that typically found on classical guitars. The frets are in excellent condition and the action can be set lower for fast electric playing, but is currently set up to maximize acoustic response.
While Zeidler built his guitars as acoustic instruments first and foremost, the pickguard with floating pickup could easily be reinstalled via the guitar's endpin jack.
Comes with the original hardshell case which is in great condition.
