This 1954 Reissue Les Paul Custom is a confirmed, very hard to get in the US, Yamano spec version.  I have decided to pull this one from my personal collection and make it available to one lucky person.  Yamano was a music store in Japan known for selling a lot of Gibson guitars and having a very good relationship with Gibson, allowing them to reportedly get the best of the best at the time.  If this guitar is taken as an example, the legend is well founded.  This is easily the best 1954 Reissue I have ever had the opportunity to play.  It was in fact compared directly to a 1994 Historic Collection '54 one and a 2005 regular Custom Shop run '54.  Both of those guitars were absolutely great guitars and all played extremely well, but neither could stand up to this one for pure tone.  This one just has the extra "snap" to the attack that I find to be an unusual attribute present in only the very finest Les Pauls.

The guitar is set up with low, fast action.  There is no fret buzzing at all.  The neck has the typical fairly large '54 carve which feels great.  The pickups are the same P90 bridge and Alnico 5 (staple) pickup set found in other '54 Reissue Customs, These pickups may have a little something extra which helps to give the improved tone, but I feel that it's most likely an attribute of a superior selection of woods used.  Yamano is said to have often hand selected the woods used in their Custom Shop Reissues.  I don't know if there is any truth to that, but something inherent to this guitar allows it to shine.

This guitar has been played, and shows some signs of it, including light pick scratches near the neck pickup, some wear to the gold finish on the bridge and tailpiece, and some scratches on the back.  It is well played, but never abused.  Remember, there is a good reason that this guitar is not a case queen.  That said, the neck finish is in beautiful condition and the frets show little wear.  The original pots are still intact, but the capacitors were swapped for a pair of "black beauty" capacitors.  The original ceramic disk capacitors are included.
