This SG started out as a typical Special model, but was up graded with gold Gibson hardware and gold covered Gibson Classic '57 pickups.

The pickups give this guitar great clarity for an SG. It's great for a wide range of styles. The neck pickup has no trouble with clean jazz tones or some dirty blues. Switch to the bridge and it will scream, easily churning out your favorite rock or metal sounds. 

The guitar set up beautifully. The action is set low and fast.  All the notes ring out clearly in all positions on every string.  

It weighs in at just 6 lb 11 oz, making it a great alternative to a Les Paul for those that need something lighter. 

I've hung onto this one for a while, seriously considering keeping it long term for myself.  This guitar will not disappoint.
