Some of our favorite modern archtops have been built by the late Mark Lacey.  We lost Mark way too soon, but his amazing work live on.  This guitar is a phenomenal example of his work.  It is a visually stunning guitar with his very D'Angelico inspired aesthetic and high end, exceptional wood choices.  As stunning as it looks, the sound produced by this guitar is where it truly excels.  This instrument has produces an exceptional amount of volume, particularly for an x-braced guitar, even with the flatwound D'Addario Chromes currently on it.  The tone is very even throughout all of the registers as well.  The floating pickup is a blade, single-coil pickup, Charlie Christian-style example that is new to us, having been made by (near to us) pickup master Joe Barden, particularly known for his Telecaster pickups.  The pickup delivers great tone without a doubt.  This is simply an excellent example of what an archtop guitar can be when made by a master of the art.

The guitar plays beautifully with all notes ringing out clearly at all frets.  The three piece maple neck has a comfortable C-shaped carve and is topped with an ebony fingerboard, featuring triple trapezoid mother of pearl inlays with engraved outlines.  The back and sides are made of 4A flamed maple with striking grain pattern.  The pickguard which holds the volume and tone controls is made of a beautifully burled piece of wood.  I'm not sure of the species.  The ebony bridge has room to adjust either up or down as the player prefers.  The tailpiece is made of ebony with a brass understructure that attaches to the end block and holds the endpin jack for the electronics.

The frets are in excellent condition with only very light wear.  The back of the guitar shows some light scratches and dents from being played by someone using a strap and standing.  The top shows a few very small dents and lacquer chips up to 2 mm in size.  This is a guitar that has been well loved, but never abused.
