The P90 loaded version of the ES-275 is probably my favorite limited run guitar that was done at Gibson Memphis. This thinline fully hollow guitar gives a character somewhere between semi-hollow and archtop in character. I find them somewhere between an ES-335 and an ES-175. It's great to have another in the shop.
This limited edition of Gibson Memphis' groundbreaking thinline hollowbody offers modern features with early 1940's appointments: script logo peghead inlay, 'no-number' barrel knobs, 'Three Diamond' trapeze tailpiece and MHS P-90 pickups. VOS nickel plated hardware includes pinned ABR bridge with titanium saddles and Kluson tuners. Rounded treble cutaway gives easy access to all 22 frets.
This particular guitar presents in excellent condition with only the lightest of surface scratches in the finish and a 3-inch hairline lacquer crack on the top shown in a closeup pic. The crack does not extend into the wood. The frets show very little wear, and it plays like a dream. The MHS P90s really nail the vintage P90 tone. Most would probably see this guitar as a jazz/blues machine which is much how I described it above. While its remarkably great for those styles, it captures a lot of the versatility of a semi-hollow ES-335 and can go into hard overdriven territory with fantastic results as well.
