This 2017 ES-335 style guitar made by Ken McKay features a beautiful clear finish over a lightly figured laminated maple body and a mahogany neck.  Notably it also feature a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.  This is a beautifully handmade guitar by Ken McKay alone to a level that meets or exceeds comparable Custom Shop models.

The guitar had a fret dressing and plays absolutely amazingly.  It's one of those guitars that practically feels like it could play itself.  The neck has a C-shaped carve, very reminiscent of a great 1959 Gibson neck, only very slightly larger.  The guitar has a nice acoustic ring when played unplugged, very often one of the signs of a guitar that will sound great once plugged into an amp.

The pickups are a custom made set of Throback PAFs with Alnico 4 magnets, with resistance measurements of 8.2K in the bridge and 7.5K in the neck.  The wiring is is 50s circuit with bumblebee capacitors to get as close as possible to a real vintage 1959 ES-335.  The guitar sounds great through this setup, no doubt.  There is really nice note separation and it sounds so nice, either clean or overdriven.

The guitar was orignally commissioned to 1959 specs by OK Guitars for a client of theirs, one of the most experienced dealers of vintage ES-335s.  OK Guitars also supplied the Brazilian rosewood slab for the fretboard.

The condition is basically mint with only extremely light evidence of playwear, mostly scratches on the pickguard.  There also a couple of small areas of light scratches near the stopbar and some light wear around the headstock that are ultra-light relic work done by Ken McKay during the build process.
