Very well known for his superb Selmer style Gypsy guitars, Maurice Dupont also creates a number of exceptionally fine archtop guitars, perhaps the best known of them being the Lloyd, named in honor of Lloyd Loar who is credited with the design of the first Gibson L-5.
This Lloyd has excellent fit and finish. The playability is excellent and the tone is that of an excellent x-braced archtop with even balance with beautiful lows, singing mids, and crisp highs. This is truly a phenomenal guitar for the price.
The frets are in excellent condition with light signs of wear and lots of life (at least 90%) left in them. The neck has a D-shaped carve with a comfortable feel.
The finish shows some signs of playwear, including a few small dings and light surface scratches. There are also a few scattered areas of light lacquer checking. The woods are all in superb condition. The top has striking silking patterns and even some figuring. The back and sides are stunningly flamed maple and the neck is one-piece more subtly flamed maple.
