The Collings I-35 LC represents the Collings interpretation of the classic semi-hollow guitar design.  It has top and back maple laminate construction with a solid wood center block, echoing the classic ES-335, but with a slightly smaller body with a 15" lower bout, in contrast to the ES-335's 16" lower bout.
 
As expected of Collings, the fit and finish are beautiful with beautiful playability.  The action is low and fast. All notes ring out clearly at all frets. The Throbak PG-102 pickups sound amazing, yielding great PAF tones. These pickups were wound to emulate the pickups in the famed Peter Green (subsequently Gary Moore and Kirk Hammett) Les Paul, "Greeny", and they deliver incredible tone.  The guitar has the great "snap" that defines the elusive attack heard in some of the best semi-hollow guitars. 
 
The guitar is in very good condition with almost no noticeable fret wear.  The maple used has striking flame figuring. The finish only shows a few light surface scratches that could be buffed out if desired.
