Built with the jazz player who wants a nylon string guitar in mind, the Slaman Dome is made with an arched top and slightly arched back with a floating (piezo) bridge and handmade brass trapeze tailpiece like a traditional archtop. This particular example has a solid Lutz spruce (hybrid of Sitka and Engelmann) top with solid, spalted European maple back and sides. The neck is made of flamed Spanish cedar. The fingerboard is made of ebony. The combination of features of this guitar make for a really interesting option for fingerstyle players in particular. The original full spec sheet can be seen in the photos.
The guitar comes with the ebony floating bridge attached to a pre-1985 Ovation piezo pickup and preamp. This piezo pickup features a separate ceramic sensor for each string to give enhanced string to string clarity with very little crosstalk.
The guitar plays beautifully. The sound is somewhere between a classical guitar and a traditional archtop. It isn't as loud as either, but is more than capable as an acoustic instrument. The addtion of the pickup system makes it an amazingly versatile instrument which can easily be used for live performance.
The guitar comes with a Hiscox case which is in excellent condition for superb protection.
