This 2021 Gibson Les Paul Custom comes with a top in a custom transparent orange color Gibson called Jeepster Orange. It reminds us of the TV finishes, kind of like the TV Gold Les Paul Custom we recently sold. The difference is that this is over a lightly flamed maple while TV finishes are normally done on mahogany. Jeepster Orange, TV Orange, Transparent Orange, call it whatever you like, but in person it looks amazing. The combination of the orange finish and uncovered pickups with a zebra bobbin neck and an all black bridge also makes the guitar reminiscent of the Marc Bolan replica Gibson did in 2001.
The guitar also comes factory loaded with a Burstbucker 1 in the neck position and an MHS 1 in the bridge. We tried it out through a Fender Twin Clone for cleans, a 1957 Fender Vibrolux for dirty, and an ENGL Invader for high gain, and it shined through all of these amps. We have had MHS 1 pickups in several guitars, and they always remind me of a really good genuine PAF Gibson pickup.
The guitar has a beautiful set up with low, fast action over the ebony fretboard. The neck has a full C-shape, very reminiscent of the '59 shape. It's simply a wonderful, responsive guitar to play.
There is some very slight irregularity to the edges of the back around the toggle switch rout and some light surface scratches, but all in all, the guitar is in near mint condition. The hardware is factory aged. The back of the headstock is stamped “MOD”.
