This new guitar from Aaron Wald is an absolutely remarkably made and tuned archtop, all handmade with a phenomally complex voice and impeccable playability.  The woods include hand carved master grade Alaskan Sitka spruce top, hand carved big leaf maple back with 4A flame figuring, solid flamed big leaf maple sides, and pale moon ebony bridge, pickguard, binding, fretboard, and binding.  This is the second guitar that Aaron has gotten into our hands.  The first of them, I have been personally playing for the last few months and I find it one of the most inspirational guitars I've ever played.  This guitar continues to convince me that Aaron is one of a select few luthiers who represent the future of the archtop guitar. His guitars are capturing the elusive balance of tonal superiority and aesthetic appeal.  
 
The 13 1/2 inch lower bout width of this guitar makes it perfect for those who prefer or need smaller bodied acoustic guitars.  It makes it a perfect couch guitar that one can sit with comfortably for hours playing unplugged, but with the custom made, alnico 3 magnet, handwound Kent Armstrong 12-pole humbucker this guitar is ready to deliver through an amp whether at home, in the studio, or on a stage.
 
The highest level of workmanship is demonstrated throughout this guitar with perfect fit and finish throughout. The fretwork and resulting playability are phenomenal.  The neck has a slightly D-shaped carve.  The 1.85" nut width gives this guitar string spacing which makes it work truly great for those who like to play fingerstyle.  Of course it also plays beautifully with a pick.
 
There is plenty of acoustic volume, much more than one might expect from a guitar this size.  As with other small bodied acoustic guitars, there are somewhat more pronounced mid-range frequencies compared to a larger guitar, but there are very nicely present lows and highs as well.
